Dinner is Served, Volume 3     British Military Mess Dress, 1930s

This CD contains 138 illustrations of mess dress worn by regiments & Corps of the British Army, based on the detail contained in the Dress Regulations for the Army, dated 1934. It also shows a variety of dress from the Territorial Army, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force & Royal Marines. All plates are full page illustrations, as shown immediately below.

The Royal Marines

The jackets of the Marines did not have shoulder straps, the miniature rank badges being attached to the lapels above the RM badge. As a 'Royal' unit the facings are royal blue. Note the use of buttons on the summer jacket.
